Wright State University, Branding, Signage & Wayfinding

Wright State University, established in 1965 with an enrollment of 20,000, is located in Dayton, Ohio. WSU has enjoyed significant success in its young history; however, its overall reputation and brand are underdeveloped and underleveraged, so the university has determined there is a need to update, refine, and/or replace its “brand” with a powerful new brand identity to help facilitate future growth.

In early 2016, YorkBranding was hired with a mandate to revitalize & strengthen the WSU brand, increase awareness and familiarity, and improve overall brand perceptions.

Significant emphasis was placed on the importance of working closely with the University to understand the current needs, attitudes, and perceptions of the various stakeholders. Over the next 18 months, YorkBranding developed the new brand identity. This included surveying thousands of stakeholders and participating in numerous focus groups, a key milestone in the process.
